Nurturing Ourselves

How we nurture ourselves and others?

I would like to suggest that our ability to give and to nurture others, including our children, our partner, friends, and community starts with our ability to "invest" in ourselves and to nurture ourselves first.

I love this quote by Joseph Campbell and I always share it with my clients as I think this acts as a fertile ground to any process and any healing.

"You must have a place in your house or in your mind or a moment in your day where you can go, where you do not know what you owe anyone or what anyone owes you. And you do not know who you are married to and you do not know who your children are and you do not know what your career is. And you go there - not to leave any of those responsibilities behind but to go to a place of first-hand remembrance, where you can sit back in conversation with yourself and have a real relationship with yourself.

And this will help you to have a real relationship with your spouse and children and your work and they won't feel as if they are weight you are carrying."

I just love the part that he writes:

"To go to a place of first-hand remembrance, where you can sit back in conversation with yourself and have a real relationship with yourself."

Every healing process starts from having some quiet time with ourselves, creating a space for ourselves, being able to listen, being curious, being interstrand, being attentive to what is arising in me...

Do you make it your priority to have such time in your day, every day???
